Did you know that 2 to 4 percent of GDP is lost to friction? Or that it takes 85 pounds of material to make a pound of aluminum? These are just some of the fun facts you’ll learn in a series of entertaining videos on sustainable design strategies offered by Autodesk.

Primarily for students, the series of 20 videos was created to address the lack of courses on sustainability in most college-level design and engineering programs. But they’re worth watching for anyone interested in designing high-performance products that last longer and use less energy.  Read full article »

Why CAD Users Should Run A Workstation Rather Than PC

by Bill Martin-Otto on 9 Jan, 2012 in AutoCAD

Many engineers and designers are running their 3D design and 2D design software on a regular PC.  However, with a low cost workstation software performance can be significantly improved.  In this video Lynn Allen discusses the reasons why CAD users should run workstations instead of PCs.

If you have used both PCs and workstations to run your design software share your experience on our CAD/CAM Performance LinkedIn discussion group.
